Worship: What to Expect
We understand that it can be a little overwhelming and scary to visit a new church. We hope that the words you read here will help calm your mind because you will be prepared for what to expect when you visit us for worship.
Our singing…
is “a cappella” [without the accompaniment of musical instruments], and all are invited to sing (Colossians 3:16). This is a great time for praise to our King!
Hebrews 13:15
“Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.”
The Lord’s Supper…
is taken EVERY first day of the week. WHY? Christians are asked to remember the death of Christ each Lord's day. Christ instituted a way for us to do this in Matthew 26:26-29 and 1 Corinthians 11:23-26. This is a time when we look back at the cross and remember the suffering and sacrifice our Savior endured for our sins.
Acts 20:7
“On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread…”
Our message…
is taught by men and our goal during this time is to be able to have a more in-depth knowledge of what God wants for us in this life. The material presented will also consist of useful and relevant applications that should help us when different situations come into our lives.
2 Timothy 3:16–17
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
Our prayers…
are offered without display and spoken by one man as others silently pray along. We lift these prayers up from the heart, and seek His mercy and His blessings on us and mankind.
James 5:16
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
Our giving…
is a free will offering and a chance for the members here to take care of their obligations; it is not a solicitation from our visitors. The contribution is collected each Lord's Day (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).
2 Corinthians 9:7
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
